Office Stuffs

We had this annual dinner last week and it was held in Marriott Putrajaya. Finally, we had one pic for SAP team. From left, Eugene, me & Peter (yeah, it's only three of us here in Malaysia). The rest of SAP team are in Netherlands. So we kinda rule everything here in Malaysia :). Eugene is Functional, me Technical & Peter is our manager.

And then we went to Loders Croklaan plant in Pasir Gudang this week. The new office is finally ready. Quite impressive & the interior is amazing!

Arsenal oh Arsenal

It’s another disappointing loss for Arsenal yesterday. It hurts, really hurts. The Gunners was aiming to break the 6 years trophyless season but again could not deliver when it matters. I could consider myself a fanatical fan as I was deeply affected when Arsenal loss yet again. My mind keeps wondering why Arsenal faltered each time in big game. The thing is, the opponent is not that scary at all. They have defeated them twice this season. My conclusion is simple, the gunners defeated themselves mentally. In the big game, mental strength plays a crucial role in order to emerge as a winner. Thus, no matter how skills you are; how beautiful you can play the game; mental strength would be the deciding factor and the most dangerous weapon. In the Carling Cup final yesterday, Birmingham showed that mental strength outweighed their limitation in other areas. At the end, they deserved the triumph they have waited for 48 years long. Congratulations!

As usual, I went through some comments by Arsenal fans in many forums. Many were disappointed but the most surprised part, there were some of them asking for Wenger’s head or just fired him already. Are you insane? Arsene Wenger is the reason I became Arsenal’s fanatical fan. I love his philosophy in the football. He is prudent in the management both on the pitch and business side. For me, he is using his intelligence to a greater effect and translates them on the football pitch. He didn’t spend crazy money to build his team. What he did is amazing and what I call a sustainable model. In 14 years tenure, he built spectacular Emirates Stadium, built generation after generation of great football teams that challenging top honours consistently, built respectable football academy, delivered many trophies and many more! What else you could ask for? The man is the genius. The Arsenal board certainly can see that. As what David Dein used to say, he can have this job for life if he wants to. Yes, trophy is final result that fans do love to have but it’s not everything. You can buy your way out for the trophy if you can spend crazy money like other clubs did. Honestly, do you really want that? For me, I rather wait even for a long time coz once we do succeed to lift the trophy, it will be much more worthwhile and extremely satisfying. The reason is simple; we do it in sustainable way, or simply the Arsenal way. Gunners for Life!

SAP Contractor 2

A good beginning indeed for 2011. Just completed my new Felda (http://www.feldaholdings.com) assignment last week. This assignment is quite challenging in the sense that I have to create 3 new developments in order to cater new business process scenario in Loan Management under SAP FICO. To achieve this requirement, I have to harness my skills in SAP Workflow. For me, SAP Workflow is quite exciting technology. I’m fortunate enough to acquire this skill in my previous projects. Now I can leverage my knowledge for potential projects in the future. My aim this year is to engage as much contract jobs as possible as a side lucrative income. The thing about SAP is that, if we are bold enough to venture into contract job, we can earn lucrative income in a very short period. Imagine my ex-colleague can earn 2k/day doing contract job and in addition, earn extra 1.2K/day doing contract with my current company. How lucrative is that! But I’m not the bold type enough considering many factors involved. First, I have my own family to support now. Thus, Financial Security is just essential to me. I don’t like the fact that when the contract almost reaching the end, I have to wake up thinking what the next contract job would be. I’m the type who read a lot on business and economics (oh yes, the edge weekly is a must for me!) and therefore I’m aware how vulnerable the world’s economic at the moment. At any moment economy can crash due to any type of reasons be it bubbles, sovereign defaults, etc etc. Overall, the feeling of insecurity is just too overwhelming. That’s why I’m tweaking my goal a little bit. I still want that contract job, but I want to do it on part time basis and remote work. That’s brilliant! Luckily, due to demand on scarce skills like SAP Workflow or PI, there are clients that accept this kind of arrangement. For instance, I’m now engaging with Innovation Associate (http://www.theiagroup.com) for my professional service. And I have my agent TechSAP (http://www.techsap.com) too that deal with payment and contract documentation. At the same time, I can keep my permanent job as usual. Due to part time and remote requirement, it does not affect my current job at all. As I said, I think my New Year resolution would be to engage as much contract jobs as possible in order to enhance my skills in various industries and of course earning more money ;)

SAP Contractor

Went to do part time contract job (SAP workflow) at Felda last week. Good experience, managed to get the job done earlier than expected. Expect some more works from Felda after this. Apparently they have many new developments coming up for SAP workflow. As long they pay me a good rate, allow me to do remote work, and be onsite based on my availability, I have no issue engaging the project with them ;).
